Precariousness and exploitation at the University of Barcelona - Assemblea de Professorat Reclamant UB, 26 mai 2015

Nous en avons déjà parlé, les professeurs adjoints de l’Université de Barcelone sont en lutte ouverte contre les conditions "de violence structurelle" qui leur sont faites. Qu’on en juge : entre 300 et 500 € mensuels pour assurer entre la moitié et les trois quarts d’une charge d’enseignement statutaire !!! De quoi faire rêver nos managers et cauchemarder les autres !
C’est très volontiers (avec plaisir, pas vraiment : on s’en passerait) que nous reproduisons ici leur lettre ouverte et leur appel à signatures de soutien.

A group of adjunct lecturers at the University of Barcelona (UB) are collecting signatures for the dignification of their precarious working conditions.
They denounce the situation and explain their demands in this video :

There are 2,000 adjunct lecturers at the University of Barcelona, which amount to 40% of the total faculty. Their salary ranges from 300 to 500 euros a month and their teaching duties are between 50% and 75% of those of a regular professor, who earns 2,500 euros a month. Adjunct lecturers are supposed to be well-respected professionals who enrich university education with their expertise. In practice, however, most of them are researchers who teach core subjects and actively contribute to the university’s research groups. The University of Barcelona is fully aware of this situation, but hires them illegally in order to save money.
